So I think it is time to part with the collection of badges I have spent many years hunting for. I will start with an immaculate set of 65 galaxie emblems. The studs haven't even had the speed nuts installed on them, and they have never been on a vehicle. They are basically N O S without the boxes. The 427 badges do have a small bit of shelf rash, and are have the tri color stripes not the monocolor stripes. I am asking $225 shipped anywhere in North America. More of my collection of vintage badges to come.
Re: 65 427 galaxie badges and many others Here is my early fifties gmc hood badge, it is in good shape with no stripped mounting holes. It has a few small imperfections from use, but should polish up very nice. I am asking $80 shipped anywhere in North america
Oh, Thanks, I don't think I have been able to get anything right lately at all! uzzled: I think I always thought they were 427. Thats cool that I can at least maybe keep that straight for a while. Thanks Mark T E=Aaron65;2027533]The first 7-Litres were in '66...but those cars had the 428, not the 427.[/QUOTE]
The 427 was available in both the 66 and 67 Galaxie's. It could also be had in 7 Litre models, but those are somewhat rare. I do recall a 427 equipped 4 speed, 7 Litre convert up here about 20 years ago that was very rough. The rarest of the rare would be the R code 2X4 bbl 427/425 HP engines, discounting the 427 cammers. p
Ford had a 427 AND a 428. (and a 429 but let's not go there yet) 427 had 427 badges and the 428 had 7 liter badges..... IIRC 427 avail in Fairlane and Galaxie, 428 avail in Galaxie only.
From the 7 Litre website: http://www.7litre.org/ As of 2012 653 1966 Ford Galaxie 7-Litres are known to still exist 433 Hardtops 280 automatics 137 4 speed (includes 7 R Codes) 16 unknown. 220 Convertibles 124 automatics 88 4 speed (includes 2 R Codes) 8 unknown. The "R" code being the 427 2X4bbl 425 HP engine. Thus some 7 Litres were produced with the 427 engine. Sorry for the hijack Chris.
