I'm assembling a list of items for my front end rebuild and there are a few parts that seem to be missing.

For the control arm bushings, are the uppers and lowers the same bushing(K5144)?

    • Moog K5144 - Front Control Arm Bushing Kit - Lower(x2)
    • Moog ES314RL - Steering Center Link Tie Rod End (x2)
    • Moog ES681N - Steering Center Link Tie Rod End (x2)
    • Moog K5108 - Upper Ball Joint (x2)
    • Moog K5103 - Lower Ball Joint (x2)
    • Moog ES2032S - Steering Center Link Tie Rod End Sleeve(x2)

The upper control arm bushings seem to be a mystery as they don't show up in any MOOG catalogs?

Any ideas or advice as to what the missing part #'s might be?

    Thanks,
    Eric

Are there other 64-65 A Bodies that share a similar setup?

Or, is there an interchange list or chart between some 64-72 models that can be substituted...:Do No:

I dont know what your budget for the frontend rebuild is but cpp.com sells a whole frontend rebuild kit in either rubber or poly.

I thought the 64 front upper control arm bushings were a little different than the lower thats why I left my orginals alone and replaced everything else.:Do No:

Note...My old Moog catalog shows #ES-333RL for the outer tie rod ends and ES-314RL being for 1961-63.

Also, the ES-681N inner tie rod doesn't have the grease fittings on the very end of the tie rod, but rather on the side, where it's very tight to the crossmember. So grease them before you install them.

Upper control arm shafts and bushings are unique to 64-65 Buick and Olds. They used metal bushings.... if they're stil tight, you can re-use them.
Replacement shaft kits are avail from Rareparts but they're expensive.
You could swap in later 66-up upper control arms that use the more common upper bushings.

So are you saying there is no rubber in the uppers? If so, this is good news for me.

One problem with the turbo six application is the downpipe tends to cause premature wear of the passenger side upper bushings due to heat.

I'm putting an order in for my parts and wanted to be sure on the ES-314RL application. The MOOG parts site shows that part number for the 64....:Do No:

Any other sources for verifying the proper part #?

    Thanks.

Both Rockauto.com and Amazon.com call for the ES333RL outers. Note how short the ES314RL ends are.
BTW, Amazon has better prices on some of the components, and they do offer a free shipping 'Super Saver' option.

Here's the page from a 1983 Moog catalog:

    Thanks! That helps a lot.

I actually have everything in my Amazon cart awaiting checkout....:TU:

Amazon has better prices on SOME items.
You can split up your list between the suppliers if you want to maximize your savings.
I see moog-suspension-parts.com has free shipping too! That's a very nice site.

BTW, Amazon prices change all the time, sometimes up, sometimes down. I keep a bunch of stuff in my 'to buy later' cart just waiting for some killer deals!
