64 skylark//fuseable link ???

    does anyone know where the fuseable link is on a 64 lark for the alternator circuit///or is there one? what happened is we diconnected the main wire at the alt it shorted out and the whole car went dead//////i ran a jumper wire to the horn relay to get it home but now i got to fix it ..thanks pete

    Though I am not sure, I believe that the fusible link you seek runs to the starter. Look for the link as a large red wire running to the starter or to the battery. Ray

    My 62 has a generator in it. The fuse is on the battery wire at the voltage regulator but if you have an alternator I have no idea

    Fusible links on American cars are typically down at the starter. There are 2 fusible links that go on the same starter solenoid lug as the + battery cable. One is for the headlights, the other for the rest of the electrical system. Do you have headlights and nothing else? Take the starter down and have a look.

    found it and fixed it it was an after market connection at the starter ///thanks for the input everyone pete
