Since they came stock with a 750 cfm carb they REALLY do want more than 600 cfm.... I can send you a 800 cfm Q jet jetted for a mild 350 combo all fresh and rebuilt for your dyno testing if you want. I also have stock 750 cfm q jet I can lend you for testing.

I have performed dyno testing with a mild 350 and had about 360 hp with a 650 cfm E brock, 380 with a 750 Holley and 398hp with a 1000 cfm Holley (poor throttle response under 2000 rpm though). Time and time again it is showed that a mild 350 wants at least 750 cfm so not sure why TA is recommending a 600 cfm carb.

Thx for the advice.....let alone the offer for the use of the QJ's:TU:
Why reinvent the wheel....I'll just go get a 750!
Thx for saving me the dyno costs ($135.00/hr):TU:
Seriously....no need for your kind offer. Thanks anyways. I really didnt feel the 600 was 'nuff.
Im going to get a Holley....yes I know...it's not stock....just that I've always wanted one...

Anybody want to buy a brand new, shiney, barely broken in Edelbrock 1406 w/ elec choke?..works perfect! Excellent choice for a 300 w/4bbl (355 on air clearner lid or replace your 2bbl (310...ditto)

No problem.... mile proof of how the 350 runs about a half second faster with a larger carb:

The Holley 750 will be great for all out performance if you can get it jetted correctly.

Some jetting info for the 750 cfm Holley on Buick 350:

    Well...well...well
Went and got a Holley Street Avenger 770cfm w/elec choke today....
    Let me tell you....WOW what a difference!!!:TU:
I swear I got at least 30hp more....sure feels like it. Now it pulls really hard to 5000rpms. Better throttle response & starts way better to boot.
    AND
The best thing is, I have a posi rear end, wooohooo.....laid down two looonngg tire marks with the bigger carb:3gears: even with a highway gear ratio (2.78):TU:
Thx for the advice Sean......the ssb 350 can handle a bigger carb....no doubt about it....I'd say with the home port job I did that the 770cfm is just right. If heads get the complete port & polish....I'd think 900cfm wouldnt hurt one bit.

I checked kijiji tonight and the brf trans is not listed anymore.

Check out the turbobuicks.com forum. Lots of them for sale.......If you keep the 2.78 gear, I would just get a t-350 installed.......WAY CHEAPER!!!

Brian...thx for checking on the tranny for me:TU:
    I'm going to put a TH350 in next year...less complicated...lol
For now, I'm having fun with the ST300:Brow:

Have a few 100 miles on the rebuild...time for a retorque...getting a bit of lifter noise at start up but then slowly goes somewhat away after it warms up. Time for an oil change too...using Shell 5W/20...just like water...lol
Sure hope a change will quiet down that lifter. May have to adjust the lifter preload with the adj pushrods...:puzzled: we'll see I guess.

A few pics with proper fuel lines and pretty much evey lil thing completed. And a short vid of the exhaust note...not sure if it's going to work...

    ps...tried to upload the vid...no luck...lol

Great to hear that you got it together. I was a bit nervous myself, but it is a pretty straight forward swap. Let me know if you come up with anything on the shift indicator.

    All righty then......
    I have about 1000 miles on the 350....running like a charm....still gets a bit warm in stop n go traffic...205deg F max...normally sits at 190degs F with 160 thermo.
Pulled the plugs today...all of 'em look like this.....nice brownish/greyish uniform color over entire surfaces. No spots on insulator.
What do you experts think out there....???:Do No:
From what I see they look good....it's hard to get the color just right with a digital camera...at least for me it is....

    Also....what fuel pressure should a stock fuel pump provide?....I only have 3.0lbs max....it varies from 2.0 @ idle to 3.0lbs @ WOT
Time to book some dyno time to see what kind of hp/tq numbers she's producing...
    Off for a cruise....
    Thanks in advance

Nice to see threads like this. Fun to watch the progress and hear the results.
I'm going to upgrade my 64 also. Going to start with the brakes and suspension. I'm going to be doing a little less straight forward of a swap, but it's all good.

Plugs look fine! The engine temps should go down a bit once the engine has about 5000 miles.

You are at the point with your mild 350 where you may need an electric helper pump and fuel pressure regulator set at 6-7 psi. I do not know the model number of your carb but most holley 770 carbs call for 6-7 psi, and it should say this in the manual. I have used a junkyard TBI pump with good results.

Been having lots of fun since the transplant....cept for the mushy ST300 trans. So I decided to put in a 200r4 based on some great advice from other members posts...and my transmission buddy...thx for the advise Sean & Brian:TU:

The 'Lark is in the shop getting a tranny swap....$2500 installed complete taxes included. All done up with hipo parts/converter etc etc. Was going to get a TH350 but decided on the 200r4 for the low first gear and the lockup converter. It's 'bout $1000 more than the TH350 but what the hell..it's only money....lol

Hey Tom....(tom65special) if you read this post...I'll let you know what I'm going to do with the "PRNDL" once I get the car back....I'm sure I can get the clear original plastic indicator out of the column and replace it with a new one with computer cut self adhesive numerals/letters so it looks factory original...
    I'll post whatever I do....
    Happy motoring & burnouts...lol
