I'm fixing a wiring mess and ran into a snag. The schematics in my manual match my wiring but something isn't functioning right. I have an aftermarket tach and 3 gauges installed as well. When I turn the lights on I have no panel or interior lights, if I turn the knob to work the dome lights I get the domes and all the gauges to light up but still no panel. New bulbs might be needed however why aren't the tach and gauges lighting up when the lights are turned on? The tach and gauges are spliced into the green wire at the back of the switch and my manual is saying this is the panel lighting wire. Am I reading this wrong and it really needs to go to another wire?

On my 70, I wired all the gauge lights to the ash tray light. I can dim the gauges just like the dash lights. The wire color is gray, just like the wires that light the instrument panel and climate control. You can tee into any of those wires for your gauge and tachometer lights. I wouldn't wire it to the light switch at all.

The wire was already spliced at the switch but I will look into splicing into the gray wires for the other lights. I need to find out why the panels aren't working at the speedo area as well. Thanks
