I was attempting to remove the drums (finned aluminum)
at the front, but it appears they are riveted to the hub?

    I did a search and found a thread concerning a 66 Riviera
    (http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=189434), but

I'd like to verify this is the case with my 64.

The factory drums are definitely riveted to the hubs.

  3. Pull the grease cap off, pull the nut off, pull the drum off.

Hi - I have the same car - 64 LeSabre convertible. I just rebuilt the entire brake system. To remove the drums off of the spindles, remove the cap, remove the cotter pin and unscrew the big nut, and just wiggle the drum until it pops off of the spindle. Don't forget to catch the bearing. I also replace the inner and outer bearings as well when I did the brakes... I have a TON of pictures... I'm doing the tie rods, center link and idler arm now,
    Good luck...
