I am close to buying another 64 and was curious about the trim tag on this car. The car is a 300 4bbl. 4 speed car. Is there anything on the tag that denotes anything about the transmission? What are the 157 and 4-1 ? Tell me what you can about any of the codes. Heres the tag info. BUICK DIV. GENERAL MOTORS CORP FLINT MICHIGAN 7B 4-1 STYLE 64-4337 BODY BF 11417 TRIM 157 PAINT CCA ACC. on the 64 65 wildcats the code is -2L- for the four speed trans dont know if this helps you or not scott
I believe CC is the top and lower with the A being a black accent strip. There are some 64 guys on here that may be able to verify this.
64 - Year 1964 4337 - Skylark 2-Door Coupe FB - Flint Plant 11417 - serial number of body TRIM 157 - Red Vinyl bucket seets CCA = CC = Artic White paint top and bottom paint. A? (believe to be black vinyl top) That is all I know about it. Mark
Mark I think your decode would mean the car is Pnt = CA which it is not. I think it is was a two tone paint car. I suspect it does not have the vinyl top trim along the rear piillar. Maybe the owner can speak to that.
A 3 letter paint code usually means a solid color car (white), with the 3rd letter being either pinstripe color, or wheel color. 2L is also a code used thru 1967 to denote a floor shift, manual trans. Not all plants stamped all the codes on the tags. My '65 GS has no tag stamp for the 4 speed. If you can find a body build sheet stuffed into the seat springs, it might have the 'L' code in the 'second group'. The cars VIN might be stamped on the trans as well.
The car does not have a vinyl top nor does it appear it ever did. The paint code puzzles me. I tend to agree with wkillgs. It does still have a red bucket seat interior. I thought it was built in the Fremont, Ca. plant? Thanks for the help.
