I've got the body off the frame on my 64 Skylark. I'm in the process of stripping down the frame to get it sand blasted and painted. Has any one pictures of a 64 convertable boxed frame. I was thinking if it's not to difficult to box this existing frame to make it stronger.
You don't need to box it unless you are going drag racing. Don't make more work than necessary for a street car.
I had to store it there for a while so I installed the new brake and fuel lines and big block frame pads. It now has the body on it ready to mock up the drainline.
Thanks for the picture Ed :eek2: There's alot of difference between the open "C" channel section that runs down the side of my Skylark. They didn't just box the frame, but made the boxed section wider and sculpted it to miss the floor pan, different transmissioin cross member brackets, which must mean a narrower crossmember. More work than I think I want to get into. Was the frame sandblasted and painted or powder coated, "LOOKS GOOD". Were the braces from the rear lower control arm to the rear upper control arm factory or an add on. Thanks Bruce
The frame was sandbasted and painted with a semi gloss paint. Figured it would look flat when it got dirty. The braces I added and got them from Ames performance a Pontiac supplier. I figured if its getting a 500hp big block I would need those, no hop bars and a 3.73 12 bolt back there! Good luck with your car
