64-67 vs. 68-72 Steering Swappable?

Kind of a random question... currently upgrading the front suspension and rebuilding the steering while I am in there. Was looking at parts vs. kits from various places and found a kit for 68-72 A-bodies on discount and everything looks pretty much the same at face value.

Does anyone know what, if any, differences there are between the two setups? The difference is only $100 on sale but every dollar saved is more I can reinvest into the build. Links to different kits are below:

Your original GM parts are 100x the quality that is available today. Replace only what is loose and restore the rest.

One part I think is an upgrade is the Moog corrected or HD idler arm. It is a little beefer item.

I know for a fact the center link in different for 67 compared to newer. It's slight but enough, i have an extra new 68-72 center link to prove it.

Actually the 71-72 units are different. The tie rods and the adjustment sleeves are a larger diameter then the 70 and earlier units.

Why don’t you keep everything “year” correct. It will make everything a lot easier then trying to figure out what you did years from now.

Great advice, thank you. I ended up going with the Moog "Problem Solver" line - I'm assuming same or similar.

Thanks - I figured as much but wanted to see if anyone had anecdotal evidence.

One of the reasons I was asking about differences - if there were incombatibility differences I wasn't going to pursue.

Fortunately, I was able to find a decent price on a center link (some were upwards of $200+) at SpeedwayMotors and all the rest in Moog parts on RockAuto. Now, I guess I have to find enough parts on Speedway to get free shipping... cause... you know... more parts rationalization.

The 67 and earlier centerlinks are narrower due to the narrower frames.

If I recall the 68-72 parts are beefer then the 64-67.
