I've got 1 '64-'66 rallye rim up for sale. It has the larger valve stem hole, and the odd side profile. The chrome is shiny, but has little bubbles in it, Looks like it's sweating kind of, you'll see it in the pictures. Good if you're missing one, re-chrome, use for a driver, spare in the trunk etc.

$35 + $30 to ship in the lower 48 states.

    Hi,
Can you tell me if there is an X stamped on the end of the cone and what the diameter of the center hole is?

    Thanks

End of the cone (where the cap goes?), inside/outside?

Hmm, there is no centering ring on the inside of this rim. Isn't this a '64 only feature?

    Stamped X, with 2 1/8 hole opening.

If this is a 15" rim that will fit the Riviera's (5x5 bolt pattern I think), I am interested. Put me in line.

Looks more like 2 3/32" for the hole opening, if that makes a difference. :pp

This is a `66 or early `67 full size rim. The centering ring has either been removed or fallen out-there should be evidence of the broken spot welds on the back of the nose,

P.S. If those in line before me pass I`ll take it as a spare, thanks

Great, Can you check the date code on the back on the wheel. Look an inch or so below any one of the lug holes. Should be a large letter with a small number inside it.

    Thanks

Does anybody have a picture of a rim with the centering ring in it? The back of this rim looks just the same as what's on my car. I'm sure it's obvious from the name, but I am going to ask anyways. What is the purpose of the centering ring?

I'm still interested if JZRIV passes, btw.

Found it, looks like a "B" with a small "6" in it.

I just remembered that I ran out of time once at the yard for grabbing a set of these wheels from a '66 Riv. I knew I was limited on time since it was getting late, and I really wanted the intake and the quadrajet, so that was my first priority. The wheels had a little bit of rust around the rim edge, so I wasn't 100% sure if they were worth taking, but they had the grey color that the earlier wheels originally came with. After the intake a qudrajet was off I grabbed the ceiling trim, and some other parts.. Then someone who worked there came by with a car and said we had to leave since they were closing, and I had to leave the wheels behind. It was the daylight savings day, so I lost an hour :Dou: ... I wish I would have known, would have been cool to have the original wheels for the cat, and they seem hard to come by.. The Riv was missing the next weekend, crushed..

The main purpose of the centering ring was to properly register the ralley rim to the front hubs, and provide ample clearance for early disc brake applications. I will try and post a pic later, as my 'spares' are in winter storage. :TU:

    Hi Randy,
Centering ring has no connection with discs. Buick used the ring on drum brake rims too. Whether disc or drum the ring serves the same purpose, to index the rim to the hub.

I just bought the wheel so its no longer available. Thanks Kimson:TU:

I'll be welding a locating ring back into the wheel.
