I did a compression check on my Skylark yesterday just to see what would come up. Ran engine till it stabilized at 180 deg, pulled all plugs, turned the engine 20 revs each time and got:
    1. 135 2. 135
    3. 137 4. 135
    5. 132 6. 137
    7. 137 8. 132

Soooo, the question is : GOOD,BAD,or just UGLY

Engine is supposed to be 9:1 and rebuilt about 6k ago

Was the carb held all the way open while you did this? They are nice and consistent! I would not expect higher than 160 at most with that engine. if it runs good just keep on driving it.

I got similar numbers on my '64 300-4 last year. I would think if the motor was rebuilt properly including a valve job the numbers should be close to factory specs. Service manual says it should be 160 for both 2 and 4 barrel versions in '64. However, if it runs ok I wouldn't be too concerned. I would call it GOOD, reserving GREAT for something approaching 160.
