    Good Morning All,

I located a 1963 LeSabre and it has a nailhead... four barrelcarb...the distributor is near the firewall. What size is this engine?
It is a four door car with auto,ps and cold air and is in remarkably good condition and a survivor for sure. If anyone cares to throw a ball park estimate all the better..can post a pic or two.

    Regards,

Most likely a 2 barrel 401 cid power plant.

Originally equipped with a low compression 2bbl. 4bbl. obviously added. Still low compression unless rebuilt with higher compression original 4bbl. pistons.

was not the 410 wildcat 401 a option in 63? is that not a high comp motor?

In a LeSabre the 401 2 barrel I think was the "standard" power plant.

I also believe that in '62 & '63 there was an option for a high compression 2bbl.

if its a 410 wildcat should be a high comp low comp is 375. from what I read the 410 was standard and the 375 was actually the option some kind a fuel economy deal or something of that nature.
