My father and I have just recently rescued his 63 Jetfire from 25 years of capture. When we pulled it out of the garage we found a large whole in the garage's roof and it had 15-20 years of rain, snow, and weather falling on the hood and windshield area. In the two lower corners of the windshield the metal is bubbling and really rusted. How do you repair? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
I would imagine I need some Western American Parts Car Metal!!!LOL! Is the cowl the same on Buick Skylark and Pontiac Tempest? I also could use the lower rear quarters and the right inner fender (this is welded onto the frame rail in the engine compartment). Help!!!!

I did this on my skylark, it took me a solid 2 days to do it. It wont be fun either, and you may want to be sure that you want to open up that can of worms, but its the only way to do it right. Pull the windshield and determine how bad the rust is, but yes you will want to get a good cut from a southern car or a repair panel from a parts depot if they make them. The channel will be several areas welded together, the firewall, cowl sides and the actual windshield channel all spot welded together. Sometimes the firewall will be rusted through as well you will need to repair this first so that you have something to weld the channel to. Just take your time and determine how much needs to be done and where to make your cuts what spot welds to drill out and you will do fine. Its hard to explain but when you break it all down and find out how its put together I'm sure that you will do fine.
