There is a gentleman on Ebay selling brackets for converting the 61-63 Skylark front from drum to disc. Has anyone tried this. He describes what rotors and calibers to use and even though he wants $125 for the brackets the rotors and calibers at Auto Zone are darn cheap. Looks like the whole conversion would be under $375. If they work that seems llike a good deal.

    hi:

if you're talking about the Scarebird brackets, I have them and am in the process of putting front discs on my '63 Skylark convertible. So far his instructions have been right on the money, and apart from a bit of grinding down on one of the original steering arms, everything has gone together pretty smoothly. I'm now running new brake lines and fixing up the rear brakes; I'll let you know how the whole "stopping" thing goes when I get it out for a test drive.

I have Scarebird brackets on the rear of my 67 Skylark, and have 4 wheel disc ( 81 Cutlass rearend ). They are top-notch. They've done their homework on what parts you need to make it a working system, and like you said, it's all cheap attainable parts available at your local auto parts store, not special-order.
