by the way I would need to stay w/a manuel set-up no vaccum and no room for the powerbrake booster due to the headers(using early nova fender well headers..Thanks Scott

Hi ya Scott. Welcome aboard. 600 horsepower eh? Care to fill us in on some details? Maybe a pic or two? We're a pretty inquisitive lot in here and when we here 600 HP we want to know things. Well... I do anyway.

I believe Willwood make good brake kits but I think we are going to need a little more information for example, what sort of car are we talking about?

If you have to stay with Manuel brakes your best bet is to get the largest disc's you can find... There should be some aftermarked vendors out there for them. But they still won't be that great IMO.

Another idea.... Depending on how good you are at "making stuff fit":Brow: You could get a power brake setup off of a GN or T Type... they use the power steering setup for their power assist so they don't have that BIG vac. diaphram behind the master cylinder... You just have to get the GN power steering setup to fit. shouldn't be that big of a prob as they use the same brackets as a 350 (or they might be close) and I am using a 350 setup on my 455 (brackets and all) Just an Idea. Some pics of exactly how much room you have to play with would be very helpful:TU: (really... I just love to see pics of buick setups:bglasses: )

You are running a buick in there.... Right??:Do No:

Are you even running Power Steering??? If so you can look at some Diesel powered Chevy trucks... They use that type of assist also... Might be a direct bolt in.

The turbo cars don't use that type of brake system. They use a Powermaster system. The hydroboost ( I think it's called) was used on some eighties Rivieras and Cadilacs. It's also used on some pickup's.

Well I have to tell ya, I know how you feel. I ran factory manual drum brake on my '70 GS and was going 135 mph through the quarter traps at 9.80's. Forget about making the first turn off. Used to hit the eyes and pump the brakes one shot good and hard and let off and then another by then I can slow down the normally. One year at 75/80 Dragway in Maryland I got a good clse up look at the corn fields as I missed all the turn offs. (75/80 is a bit short at the end) About last year I finally gave up on them as I was glazing the shoes and I started to fry up the aluminum front drums getting heat cracks in the liner.

Went to Wildwood Brake set up. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Can stop on a dime! Have the Wildwoods up front and still have the aluminum manual drums in the rear. It was pricey but well worth it. Installation is very easy except that you have to re-drill and re-tap the upper center bolt hole in the knuckle. Otherwise its a breeze. No special master is needed either.

Oh forgot to mention when I was running the front & rear manual drums the car is not driven on the street. Would highly recommend NOT using 4-wheel drums on the street for any full body car that runs high HP. It's not the stop light action, it's the old lady that pulls out in regular traffic on ya that will hurt. Wildwood does make a street version for a heavier car that may be street legal. The attached shot is my engine but on the lower right and left shows the set up along with a tubular control arms.
