Alright im a buick lover but i got a good deal on a sbc and dont worry its not goin in a buick. It has a set of world heads on it that have springs capable of .600 lift. It has a .478 lift 278 duration solid lift cam with it. I know i should probably change the springs but money is tight. What do yall think will happen if i try to run it. Will it wear the cam out? Arent solid lift cams heat treated to withstand more spring pressure. Please help?

I would find the actual spring specs,if they are istalled I'll check height vs. the spec. You can call the cam company too.I wiped a cam and still trying to figure out why, check everything and use compatible parts, that'll be my 2 cents.Good luck.

I'd be surprised if you had any issues with those springs & that solid cam. Sure won't need to worry about valve float!!:TU:

Typical spring rates for a solid lifter cam are 140lbs closed and 350-400lbs open. That tends to work for a hyd. roller cam also, since the lifters are so much heavier.
