I am a retired circle track racer trying to go straight !
I own the old "goldie locks " 69 skylark
    2weeks ago ,we ran consistant 1.54 60' /11.85 and won !
next time out 60' were 1.64/ 12.05 and couldn't win a round if life depended
only difference was 10' warmer and higher dew point
tried diff rear tire press to get to hook but no help there, tried more burn out, no help there

car has stock rear sus, mod frt sus, moroso spring, 90/10 shock, poly bushing, etc, have 28x10 hoosier bias ply slicks

do I need bigger tires, different rear susp. or put some # on the door and hit the circle track ( just kidding )
    usually run 11.85, 1.54 60 ft & 110 mph
    car is 3800lbs, 3400 stall, 3.73 posi ????

OK, REAR TIRES ARE 28X10 HOOSIER BIAS PLY SLICKS, STARTED @ 12PSI AND WENT DOWN TO 8, DIDN'T MAKE ANY DIFF IN 60 ' TIMES

    GOOD DAY RAN 110 < BAD DAY 107 >
LOOKED @ ET CHECK SHEET THING,, THINK i NEED MORE FUEL, RUNNING 800 CFM HOLLEY DF.DP NO CHOKE, PLUGS ALWAYS LOOK NICE MED. BROWN

LOOKS LIKE I SHOULD BE GOING FASTER ET & SPEED WITH 1.54 60 '

I'd say put a electric fuel pump back at the tank to help out the Stage 1. With a 1.54 launch there has to be a lot of g-force pulling that fuel back to the tank. Can't hurt and may help. You might be suprised in what you saw if you put a fuel pressure gauge on for a run.

You're just out 60 footing your et. No problem with that as long as it always hooks. I run zip in my left airbag and up to 30 lbs. in the right. You want to keep the right rear from squatting.

You didn't say what cam you have but I'd consider dropping the stall a few hundred rpm. What you lose in et will be made up for in consistancy plus your MPH will come up. Your et may not drop as much as you think. You're losing 600 rpm to slip, could be better but it is not massive.

Or get some better tires. Never had to run less than 12 lbs when I ran slicks. Got down less than that and car felt loopy. When you're under-tired it takes a great track prep to keep the 60' consistant.

Here's where to check what the weather was really doing the days you were at the track:

That will really tell you if the air was good or bad and how it would affect your times.

    1. Get those hard poly bushings off. Put Global West Del-a-lum bushing on. They will let the front move freely and rise up quickly like spherical bearings.
    2. Get a Robb Mc fuel pump http://www.robbmcperformance.com/. Cliff Ruggles said he always had trouble with pusher & stock pump combinations. He has tried everything.
    3. Get Jim Wiese 1/2 inch push lock fuel line kit and Robb Mc 1/2 inch pickup for the tank. Also Robb Mc http://www.robbmcperformance.com/ big long 1000 HP filter put somewhere near the front of the line.
    4. Put the original dust skirts on the inner fender panels/upper a-frame area, to force the hot air over the exhaust and under the car.
    5. Cold air intake will help keep the fuel/air cooler on hot days.
    6. I hope you use lead additive (or lead substitute) if you have no steel exh. seats or your valves may sink, and use zinc oil or your cam lobes will get shorter quickly.

Your traction/launch efficiency is outstanding (60 ft X MPH) at 169-170. Look... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=212126

Your fuel system is too weak & way out on the edge. Hot weather will kill your power, then your engine. Keep at least 1/2 tank of fuel or more for hard launches.

YOU'RE DOING GREAT, SO.... BE CARFUL ABOUT MAKING CHANGES.
However, enhanced fuel flow, front end rise, and cool fuel/air IS ALL GOOD and will throw nothing out of whack.
