I changed my trans last week from a 700R4 to T400 to kill some of the first gear and help the car launch. To my dismay the 60' times stayed the same but now it will pull the front wheels up 2-4" (depending on rear shock settings). My thought is that it must be hooking better to pull the wheels but why would the 60's stay the same?

Best 60' back to back weeks between swaps was 1.60. Best of the year has been a 1.55 (only once) w/ the 700.

    65 skylark 3750 w/ me
    stg 2 464
    4k stall - both trans
hal shocks - full loose on front and click 4 on rear
full wolfe suspension including anti-roll bar
    4:10 rear gear

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

you didnt tell us what the 1/4 et was ?any change there?you realy cant expect a big change in the 60 ft cause all you changed was .14 or so what i would say is try changing your tire pressure///your launch rpm your shock settings///even your timing//// are your slicks worn out can you go//or borrow a bigger set that should be tryed also pete

I've never been sold on the 4-speed auto for the best drag strip ET's.....
Especially with the flat torque curve of a Buick,The engine powers it's way through first gear too fast w/o utilizing the torque.
Kinda like running on foot down hill,You should be faster but the legs can't keep up.
I still think your combo should go well in the 6's and 10's with 650HP....Keep at it,You'll find something.

    60 ft time

Maybe you because you are hooking better your power is going into lifting the front end a few inches instead of becoming foward drive and reducing your 60' time. It wastes power lifting the front end very much Maybe I'm way off base, but I thought I'd offer my 2 cents if it helps.

Well, if your gonna pull the fronts anyway......put a tranny brake in her.....maby a 3.89 gear...then watch the fans eyes.......hang em high!!!

My opinion only....not to be taken too seriously..have fun!!!
