Does anybody know what will work with my 59 401? I have the original Dynaflow but want it to be a real driver. I live in Denver so driving in the Rockies is going to be common.
Also what about swapping axels for disc brakes??? Anyone??

Howdy '59 Invicta, please post pictures of your Car'Evil (my name for the '59 styling) for us to enjoy.
As for you engine question, no a 65 SP400 will not bolt right up since your crank flange is the wrong size for the SP400 flexplate. If you cut the flange off and use the right flexplate the SP400 will work. The TH700R4 is a decent trans and can be added with an adapter to your Dynaflow crank with kits from a few manufactures though my suggestion is for a mildly built TH200-4R since it has a higher 4th gear and a smaller 1-2 gear split. Any of these trans will require a custom crossmember since your dynaflow doesn't share a mounting possition with any of them. As far as rear discs.... you will need to convert to an open driveline instead of a torque tube closed driveline like you currently have for transmission anyway and doing so will require a 61-64 fullsized or 63-65 Riviera "center chunk". I don't know what you're rear suspension looks like so the housing will likely have to be the current one. Scarebird Mechanical, who also does front brake kits, is working on a kit for the 61-64 Fullsized Buick that might work on your rear axle but no promises from me or from them as they don't even have one out for the above year range yet, just the 65-70 rear axle.

Hope this gets you started and welcome onboard,
