Hi, I'm new to this board and also new to Buicks. I just recently bought a 57 special 4dr. hardtop that was cleaned up a bit a few years ago. It needs repainted and the brakes fixed up a bit and should be ready to enjoy.I just noticed a number ( 75 ) in a little box just to the left of the zero on the speedometer. You can tell that this number is supposed to rotate around like the odometer, but what is it for? I don't know if it is working as I just found it and have't drove the car any amount. Thanks for any help, Jim.

It's for the speed warning buzzer. There should be a knob on the left-hand lower panel left of the vent marked "ACCESSORY". If you turn this knob, the drum with the "75" on it should rotate. When you hit the speed shown, a buzzer is supposed to go off telling you that you've hit the pre-ordained speed. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks alot, seen the Accessory switch but thought it was for other accessories, you might wire in. I will try turning it to see if that all works. If so I will turn it down to see if the alarm works. My brakes don't work good enough yet to check it at 75 mph. See your from Fargo, been thru there often, I live in western Manitoba about 60 miles north of the peace garden. Thanks again Jim.
