I am interested in info and parts to convert my 1956 Buick Special into a Gasser. What straight axel, rear, leaf springs, steering box, Small block or Big block motor and trans mounts etc.. Any help with this would be great.
    Thanks,Donzzilla

    Gassin around

I would suggest looking around the web (ebay, maybe) for other GM cars of that vintage that have had the same treatment. There was a cool 57 Nomad Gasser for sale a few months ago that could give you some clues. Enter this into the search window

    gasser (buick,chev*,olds*,caddy,pontiac)

and there are some cars and parts out there...

is Gasser style considered a rat rod??

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend and I had a disagreement on the subject of a Gasser style car being considered as a rat rod. I am building my 55 buick in a gasser style street rod, and he considers any type of classic car construction, as a rat rod. I just would like other educated opinions on this matter, as I define a rat rod in a different class as a gasser class even though it is just a suspension style
