Also I am wanting to get rid of the dynaflow transmission with a chevy th350, meaning I will need an adapter to make the new transmission fit to the engine, meaning I will need to change the rear end as well. Anyone know what rear end will work with it? And what else I will have to consider in doing this? :TU: Also where can I find the adapter?
For the tranny adapter. go to www.transmissionadapters.com. I have one of their kits for my '58, and it's very well engineered.
Torque tube swap Hi, Looks like everyone is getting rid of their dynaflos-cool!!! I just repplied to another thread about the rear-You may be able to keep your stock rear with some moderate machine work/fabrication. The trans swap is not a huge deal. You will need a rear crossmember for it, a driveshaft (obviously), a trans cooler in front of your radiator, a shifter, and a way to connect the kick down cable to your carb. Edelbrock and others sell the pin(?) the cable slips onto and several people offer brackets to hold the cable housing inplace so it won't move with the cable. Any speed shop can help you with these, It may take some mild mods depending on what carb you run but no big deal. The hardest part of the swap is locating the new rear (if you don't keep you stock rear) and setting the drive line angles. i think you guys will be very happy with the new transmission, three forward gears is soooooooo much better than starting off in drive and letting the convertor do all the work. The car will feel like a completely different car. Good luck, if you have any other ?'s-just ask.
