Last week I came across a '55 Buick Special 4-door sedan in my grandfather's garage. It belongs to his neighbor, the son of the man that bought it. Anyways, my grandpa said he remembers the guy buying it new off the line and hardly ever driving it, keeping it in a garage mostly. A couple of months ago the son decided to store it at my grandpa's as he tries to get rid of it. It can't be in that bad of shape as he drove it there.

I checked it out, and it looks pretty good. Some of the hoses are broken in the engine, there's a little bit of rust, and one of the light casings on the back is broken, but the interior has obviously been well taken care of, minus a rip in the driver's seat. I was hoping that someone here could tell me how much something like this would be worth. I don't know too much about cars, but have always adored the look of classic cars and am willing to make it a bit of a project for my grandpa and I.

So, yeah, any input would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

To me, these cars are worth way more than they bring because they are a four door, so no big money. Cool cars though.
I would much rather put money into a car like that for a family hauler than a newer car.
Best I can say, especially without looking at the car or at least seeing pictures is to check craigslist or ebay.
Quite a few 55's out there, the hard part is finding a few that match the condition of the one you are looking at.
I think things are picking up a little, but cars have been down and not moving as well over the last year, so a good time for a buyer, bad time for a seller.

Figure anywhere from 800-1500 for a rust bucket "driver" to 3500 for a fair/good 4 door driver. ( I paid 3000 for a no rust 2 door post 55 good driver that just needed headliner/carpet) But like I said, it was a 2 door.
Good luck. They are fun to drive around. Even the 4 doors. I had a 56 4 door 210 chevy before this 55 and i loved it. You dont have to worry to much about dinging it up or miles you put on it. Drive it like you stole it! ( just watch out for the brakes! HA!! HA!!) :3gears:
