Does anyone happen to have a suggestion as to a more modern front suspension swap for the 55 Buick? I would rather not do an entire front clip from a Camaro or anything...would rather do some cutting/relocate of crossmember and do IFS. I am sure I can make it work...however I just wanted to see who here has already been thru it??
Hi Danny I am currently working on an upgrade on my 56. 58 Pontiac lower arms, 60 Buick uppers and Mid 60s Chev Impala drop spindles. This will give me ball joints and discs up front. I have also upgraded to a later Delphi power steer box. More details and information in these links. http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/1937-1957_Buick_Oldsmobile_Pontiac_suspension_upgrade http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?242437-Updating-Suspension-in-a-57-Buick
I went with some drop spindles from http://fatmanfab.com/ we used the original control arms and installed and air ride system this takes some fab work. also swapped out from drums to disc, one day job used the http://scarebird.com mo. installed a new fire wall mounted dual master with a prop valve for front disc and rear brakes. I know art Morrison makes a full frame for 55 buick that might be the way to go.
Mustang II, aftermarket repro. or OEM. Friend just finishing a '53 Bel Air. Modern parts, reliable & great selection/options. About the only thing still '53 is the body shell.
Thanks guys...all very very helpful. The fatman front Stub is like $3K....so definitely want to do something different if at all possible and not spend that much. Again, thanks, very helpful ---------- Post added at 11:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 AM ---------- My lower control arms are shot...due to sitting in the mud....any suggestions on where I could find replacement lower control arms...or what can be swapped to fit. ---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 AM ---------- Ross, thanks for the links.....most helpful!!!!!
