Too interesting to place in the "Cars For Sale Leads" area: http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/...1950-buick-roadmaster-wrecker/#comments-block
It's that double Ventiports flower car conversion again ou: US$ 45,000.00 asking price, you only need one buyer :TU:
In the Hemmings article in the first link they don't mention Harley Earl's name o No: Older advertisement:
Either PT Barnum has again been proven right, or it didn't go for anything like $45,000. I'm in agreement with James.
As an addition to my 68 Wildcat and since they are mentioned in my 68 dealer selling aids package I bought these 3 ice scrapers (Buick colors)... googled the dealer name and turned out to be the dealership that made this Roadmaster wrecker " Harper Honea and Clark Burr were a couple of friends who often worked together in the town of Susanville, California, so when Burr decided to go into business as a Buick dealer in 1948, he enlisted Honea’s help in building the dealership on Susanville’s Main Street." http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2016/04/1950-buick-roadmaster-custom-wrecker.html?m=1
I LOVE this car. Not $45K worth, but the uniqueness of it, I feel, is worth $20K as is. It's not a converted flower car as Buicks weren't built as flower cars in the 50s and later; the most recent vintage Buick FC is a one-off 1949. This one also isn't on a commercial-length chassis. However, I did see another one very much like this one, a red (and rusty) early 50s 'coupe wrecker' in a junkyard in east PA about 10 years ago, but that yard got crushed out. Unfortunately never got any pics of it.
