I don't have one but my brother might have a pic of a Eggs 83 t-type race car. It has a 4 1/2" cowl scoop. And yes it is big.

Only pic of Egg's car that I could find. Eggs is the guy sitting in front of it with my brother's 87 T-Type. That motor is the one that went into Wolverine's Blue GS 350 that made the first Buick Nationals so special.

This stance is what I'm shooting for. How tall do you think this is.

    Tom,
Thanks for the picture I had seen your car before and have always wanted to know how tall that was.Very nice set up and stance.

I'm curious as to why you wish you had a 6 inch scoop? does it have to do with the amount of clearance above the carb.

Do you have the cowl closed off for cool air induction if so please post a picture of it.

Did anyone catch HPTV a week or so back when they tested the Nova at the track wit ha 5in cowl hood??? They went to a famous race school for testing and the owner "name slips mind" said, you guys gotta run a carb pan
A piece of metal that seals the carb to the hood. As big as the whole cowl scoop. Other wise with it just open, it creates turbalnce that will actualy suck fuel out of your carb and make you go lean half track. Funny thing is, he was right, you could hear the Nova struggle at half track.

Yeah, Eggs has a carb pan. He bought it from a local guy. Its made of aluminum. He cut a hole in his large enough for a 14" air cleaner base. The air cleaner base sorta guides the air in the carb.

It was the first time I had heard of it. Good info. I can only guess at the number of chevy guys with a cowl hood and no idea why they need to run rich.

Don't crucify me for having a SBC, I do have a nice GS. What i did was seal of the cowl area of the hood with a piece of aluminum and cut a hold in it for the carb to stick through. In order to seal it from the engine compartment I cut a base plate for the from aluminum for the carb about 18 inchs and used foam to seal it to to the aluminum plate covering the cowl. Works great and there isn't a big air box sitting on top of your engine. I attached a pic to give you an idea of what it looks like.

    Terrance,

I just like the look of a big cowl hood. I do not have mine sealed off. That is something I will try this year.

    Thanks!

You don't want the hot air from the radiator and the engine bay being sucked up by the carb. Cool air = horsepower. I also forgot to mention that the back of the hood at the cowl area is also blocked off by a piece of pipe foam that runs all the way across which prevents the engine bay heat from coming out there and finding a path back to the carb.

Do you still have the regal? It was 9 years ago I got this one from my Aunt in Seattle Washington. 7 years ago it ran 19.2 at the Buick meet at Norwalk w/ the 6 cyl and have been stepping it up every year - 10's planned for this year.
The hood was worth a 1/10 + in my car. This is my 100% buick.

Yes I still have the car. It's my current race car. while driving it to work a few years back someone pulled in front of me and totaled it.
I ended up buying it back from the insurance company for 300 bucks. They told me the car wasn't worth anything but gave about 800 for it. I took that and put back in the car. will have pics as soon as I can find them.
By the way nice car. :TU: And I thought I lucked up on some good deals.
