Since Norwalk was a wash, I still had the bug. Today just happened to be Test and Tune at our local track and I was able to bug out of work early. So.... Here's the best timeslip of 6 passes: .017--- R/T 1.418 --- 60' 4.284 --- 330' 6.737 --- 1/8 ET 99.57 --- 1/8 MPH 8.8863 --- 1000' 10.724 --- 1/4 ET 122.12 --- MPH I also backed it up with a 10.78 run. Changes: Taller front tire (26" to 28"). Dominator @ 93 square (previous 4150/930CFM @ 92 square). Lowered stance. Added 1 degree of timing (now 35). Today was also the first day I weighed the car. It came to 3620 with me in it. My weight is somewhere between 225 & 250... >>60s aren't so far away. :beer Based on the combo, does anyone think she's got a 50 in her?? I've also attached a picture showing the new stance. --John
John car looks sweet and works very well. I watched you and Joe run within a couple of runs of each other on Saturday. I was shocked to see Joe run a 10 teen, last time I knew Joe was in the higher tens. Congrats to both of you the cars look and run great.
John How did you lower the front? Geez, it looks great, I love that stance. What size M/T's are on the back?
John, To lower the stance, did you put drag springs on the front and if so which ones? What kind of rear control arms are you using?
Dennis, Thanks. :TU: --Sorry we missed you out there. My current motor is Joe's old one -- reblocked now... Joe has put a lot of effort into building his new combo over last couple seasons. He made it out a couple of times late last season and a few times this year. He's already broke into the 9's. Reynold and Carl, The front springs are Moroso 47190s that have two full coils hacked off. That dropped it down on the bump stops (too far). To bring it to the current stance, I have global west 1 inch spacers in the bottom of the perch. Previous stance had uncut 47160s. The rear is a ladder bar / coil over set-up. Tires are M/T 28" 10.5W. Once these wear out I'm planning on going to a taller tire based on feedback I've received from this forum. :beer John
John, I am sure that you and Joe saw me run before your last runs. Red 68 GS California went 10.20 you were both standing next to the burn box when I went up for the last time. I was back in the stands to watch your runs, both cars leave very well and Joe keeps the wheels up for a good distance. I think you went 10.89 and Joe 2 runs later was 10.12. I was sure that Joe would be a 9 second car in better air without the stiff headwind. I hope to get out in good weather yet this year to try for my 9 second pass, been a best of 10.05 a few different times. Congrats on the nice running pretty car and congratulate Joe for me on his awesome ride.
Dennis, Was that the same ride you had in Morocco last year when you went to the finals with Gary? I thought it looked familiar. I'm so new to this it's hard to keep track of names, faces, and rides. Considering how well your car is running, I guess you've decided to keep it? Thanks for the congrats and I'll pass the same along to Joe. He finds his way to the board from time-to-time. John
That is the same car as last year at Morocco. Gary put me on the trailer in semi-final last year, near identical lights I was better by only .003 and he dialed better to take me out. 5 races and 4 money rounds with the car and I can't give it up now.

Hey John, It was great meeting you and Joe at Norwalk. As I told ya...you have a great combination!!! When you get the itch to go faster.... DONT!!!! Of course that is easier said than done. But really... your combination is a fast combo and a reliable combo and one that can be very consistant. Keep up the good work!! Later
Perry, Let us know when/where you'll be next. Dennis, That car is doing amazing for you. I'm glad you didn't get rid of it. You weren't asking enough for it anyway... Milan, Nice meeting you yesterday too. John, Great meeting you too. This itch is more like an ugly rash. Thanks everyone for all the support. --John
John I saw your Car near the concession stand after I was turned away due to the rainout.....It was truly a depressing weekend weather-wise. Sorry to have missed you. Are you heading to BG,Or just Salem? We'll catch up sooner or later.......You will probably have run in the .60's by then,And yes,I think there is a .50-something in it. I just looked at the picture again....Your Car has become one of my favorite Buicks,Tastefully done.
John Is the rear tire in your photo the same as your avatar? Are those 10" wheels on the back? The tires in your avatar look fatter than the 10.5" tire.
Gary, Somehow I managed to snag a kitchen pass for Norwalk, the BG Nats, and Salem. :TU: Although I haven't even reserved a room or registered for BG yet... At this point it's looking like I'll leave here sometime early Thurs morning. I will most likely be coming solo and looking for someone to pit with. When you planning on getting there? John
Reynold, The tire is the same and the wheels are 10". I think the avatar image "balooned" when I resized the photo. John
They sure look cool like that! I'm currently trying to decide on a tire. Definately M/T ET Streets, but can't decide on 28x13.5 (11.0 treadwidth) or 30x12.5 (10.2 treadwidth). They also make a 30x13.5 (11.1 treadwidth) but I think that maybe a little wide.
Sense it doesn't look I will ever see my 71 GS run again. It is very cool to see a car that is painted up and run the way I would like mine tobe. The only thing I would like to see on your car would be a Stg 2 hood scoup painted to match the X-stripes. If you could e-mail me a pic of your car so I can print it out. Thundervallies@Direcway.com.
