Can some post a pic or confirm that the 4spd brake pedal with power disk brakes has a metal ring that says Disk Brakes or Power Disk brakes on it like the automatic style brake pedal. Is this correct. Thanks :beer
Phil i dont know the answer but saw it was you thought id tell you i took a pass on that car//////long story but the short of it is to //i thought it was to much money for the car as it stood BUTit was what i want so illkeep looking and thanks again pete
No problem Pete, With the repair work, shipping, and car itself I can understand your thoughts Good luck on your search. :beer
Phil Here is a pic of the inside of my 70 GS 455 4 speed car. This car has factory Disc brakes and has the very rare Stainless steel Disc brake logo that would appear on auto Disc brake pedal. This is a rare site to see on a 4 speed brake pedal Pic attached
Rich thats what I was looking for. I bought a 70 GS 455 4spd yesterday and it has power disk brakes and did not have the pedal cover on it. Someone said they had the stainless steel disk on them thanks for confirming this for me. :beer
Phil Your welcome. PM me or post here the color combo an factory options on your GS 455 4 speed car Thanks Rich

I had to run out and look. Mine does not have it, nor does it look like it was ever there. I'm almost certain that it's the orginal pedal. Maybe someone can prove otherwise, I'd like to have one. Rich
Steve, my 68GS has it. So if they still had it in 70 it's a pretty good bet that the 69s do too. There's only 17K original miles on this car so I'm betting that it is correct.
Rich Your car would have to be a factory equipped P Disc Brake car to have this pedal trim. P drum or manual brakes would have plain black pedal pad only
Sounds like A nice car Rich. Mine is in need of everything but for a 70 GS 455 4spd I am willing to do the work needed. :3gears:
Phil Those are great pics on your website. Thank you for saving that car, it is soooo worth it! What yard is that and where was it found..story about the deal? Rich
It is a factory P Disc, 4 speed Car. So now I'm confused. I can tell you that I'm the second owner, the first owner ran it into the ground and let it sit. o No: Rich
Basic Story of the salvage yard, It is one of 2 possibly 3 that the same guys owns. the newest cars on the premises are mid 70's and all these car were hauled in in the early eighties late 70's and before. The guys dad passed away and the son and the mom took over the business. Most of the stuff is pretty rough to include the GS I bought but I have a fetish for saving a salvage yard car. FYI it has a clear title also. :beer They take people out to their yards once in the summer and once in the fall thats it. every 6 months. or he will go out on tuesdays if he has enough parts to pull. Salvage yard is near Austin and is in a very rural setting.
If some one can decode these part numbers, they are the only ones listed for 69. Page 138 of the assyembly manual. 1384111 - Cover (Disc Brakes) This looks to be for the automatic. Then it lists 1363611 and 3858198 - Opt - Manual Trans. Then 1363630 and 3858199 - Opt - Auto Trans. Quite a few different choices, looks like two different ones for the manual. Looks like my car got the wrong cover. Mine was built in July of 69, maybe they ran out. Rich
Rich: In looking through a 1975 dated parts book the only number that came up as still being used and not superceded was the 3858199. This pad is for an auto trans pedal. It fits: 64-67 ST 300 (Super Turbine) Special-Skylark-GS, 67 Sportwagons TH 400, 68-72 All A (A.T. Drum brakes), 68-72 All A (Disc brakes). So you can see somethings amiss here. As the disc brake cars had the oval stainless disc, but it shows the drum and disc as the same. Its one of those discontinued parts things, the other one fits both so thats what we'll list and go with for both applications. I need to go dig out one of my other older parts books in the garage and start looking some more. I have a Parts History Price Book also but all that will show is when the part was discontinued or what it superceded to and the prices. This particular book shows the "plates" (which is what they called the stainless trim on the pedals) as being available only on the full size cars. This was the trim that ran around the perimeter of the pedal, in addition to the center oval disc. If I remember it also had a single stainless piece running through the center of the oval from one side to the other. I don't remember ever seeing that trim plate (besides the center oval disc) on an A body Buick. And I don't know if in fact they came that way, at least from 70 and on. Who knows what was done during the history of the car or even on the assembly line. Sometimes going through the parts books doesn't necessarily make it set it stone or the way it was. Mikes 68 400 with that low milage sure would indicate they were available at least up til that year...???? I have a manual trans disc brake pedal setup out of a Chevelle with that trim on it. Its one of those clear as mud things when it comes to these cars.
