Thanks Ray! Unfortunately, I already bought the Dakota conversion. I will stick with it, for now. The car goes in today to have all the work done.
The Reid bellhousing is mostly for racing applications and smaller converters. They had to modify the bellhousing slightly to have the larger converter work properly.
My car has a column shift. Most swaps involve a floor shift, of course. I actually like the bench seat/column shift for cruising. The shift linkage was a bit problematic so they came up with this solution.
he did order a swap kit, did not like it, and made this to operate better. I am trying to document the potential problems of the swap. I believe he used a combination of original parts and the kit. I will lose the ability to manually shift into 1st gear, but that was a known problem with the column shift setup from the start.
