Hello all. I am doing my TH400-4l80e tranny swap this weekend. By the way I am taking photos along the way so other who want to go from a TH400 to a 4l80e can see how it goes. I have a 3000 stall converter. I am sure it is correct, because I set it next to the stocker and everything is the same. I can't get it to slide on the last 1/2" or so. I am only pushing with my hands & spinning to be safe. A TH400 has two opposite slots on the converter snout/sleeve. A 4l80e has the outer part of the sleeve, on oposite sides, machined flat.

    Should I break out a sledgehammer & a torch-dag-nabbit?

Need help, I want to be ordering a driveshaft on Tuesday.

    Thanx.

Sometimes you just have to be persistent and keep lifting, turning and pushing all at the same time. It took me a bit over 2 hours to get the one back into a T-400 once. For whatever reason, it just didn't want to go in that last bit.

It's no fun but if you take and stand the trany up on its tailshaft then spin the converter it should drop right in the last bit. I have done this on tranys that I replaced the converter bushing on and it works good.

I'll go try it, I will try anything. Actually, if it does not work, I will take the trans/converter to my trans guy & let him have a look.
    Thanx Mike.

Well, tired it. No luck. Dang, I was hoping to have it all ready by the end of Monday. Oh well. I need a break from it, before I go totally nuts. Hope it all works out. It ended up costing much more than I anticipated to build this trans, and one of the main reasons I did was because my bro gave me a converter.

If there is an o-ring on the input shaft for the TCC, lube it with some vaseline. Lube the convertor neck inside and out while you're at it.

Thanx guys, I must be getting desperate. I put the converter in the freezer for a couple hours. Still no luck. If I don't find a shop to help me out tom., I will try the freezer again & get smoe vaseline or grease.
