496 Cubic Inch-Aluminum STG II Headed Engine

    496 cubic inches (4.361 bore, 4.147” stroke=495.5)

    Races on 93 octane pump gas with no additives!


    I am selling this engine complete from carb, to pan, to headers

    Selling as pictured. If you are not interested in something included, we can take it off of the price.
    The only items i want to keep are the alternator, alternator brackets, crank pulley, and coil.

    This engine has been the best of 6.480@103mph (1/8 mile) w/1.377 sixty foot! It is in my 72 GS w/ATI eight inch converter, TH350, and 4.10 gear. (3650 lbs)
    The run listed above is at 33 degrees timing.

    74 455 block

    Lifter valley steel plates installed with Devcon and breather tubes

    TA 1105 block girdle w/ARP main studs. Installed by Jancen Racing Engines in Elma NY. Mike Janis and Kevin Peters are the two that did the work.

    Block machined and rotating assembly internal balanced by Bill Trovato (BTR Performance) in Rochester, NY.

    Stock crank offset ground to 4.147” stroke

    ATI918171 aluminum 3 ring damper

    JW 93008-L "The Wheel” flexplate w/ARP 200-2902 bolts

    TA1631A aluminum rods

    JE Pistons (4.360 bore)

    Speed Pro R-9374 5 plasma moly rings

    Clevite main, rod, and cam bearings

    Bullet cam .307” lobe lift, 262/278 duration @ .050”, 112 centerline

    Comp Cams 800 solid lifters

    Comp Cams 26120 beehive valve springs w/10 degree keepers and retainers

    Buick front cover w/Kenne-Bell booster plate

    Meziere electric water pump

    TA1511 oil pan and pickup

    TA Stage II TE aluminum heads

    TA1136 Head studs

    Cometic head gaskets

    TA1312 1.55 roller rockers

    Smith Brothers 5/16”, 116” wall pushrods

    TA1327 Valve covers

    TA1204 SP2 intake manifold (Dominator)

    Proform 850 mechanical secondary carb

    MSD 8517 distributor

    MSD Super conductor spark plug wires

    TA2014SCHB coated Stage II headers 2-1/8"

    Unknown brand mini starter.

    Includes build sheet

    11.16 to 1 compression ratio


    The engine is in my car and running for someone who is interested in checking it out. I am located 30 miles south of Buffalo NY.
    I will deliver to the GS Nationals next month, but that would only be if someone is committed to buying it.
    I do not want to separate the top and bottom end.

    I am asking $12,500.
