http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2433014482&category=33613 Whats up with this? I have never heard of a 4.1 stroke (4.15 is common) and using a 4.36 bore. Is this legit? I know of the 494 with a 4.15 stroke and 4.35 bore. Thanks! Tom Jenkins
Hi Tom, Long time no talk to! Anyway....a 4.360" bore (stock Ford 460 bore) and a 4.100" stroke will give you 489.7ci. If you are creative you can make many cubic inch variations by juggling bore and stroke sizes. It's all a matter of custom pistons, rings and what you can come up with for rods and bearings really, the stock crank can be cut in many different ways....even de-stroking if you would want! Hope this helps.... BTW.....a buddy of mine called me while I was in the hospital when he was looking at your car during the Mt. Zion Wal-Mart cruise-in. Either your girlfriend or wife was really watching him closely as he was describing the underhood to me. I told him to tell her he was talking to a fellow GS guy and PPR member.:TU: Talk to you later..... :TU:
Hey Tom, Whoever won this auction may be in for a tough go. I emailed the seller yesterday and asked for the pin height of the piston because the pistons looked fairly large. He emailed me back with a 1.865 pin height. so..... 1.865 pin height 6.786 rod length 2.050 1/2 of the crank stroke =10.700 This tells me the piston is going to stick out of the block .100 since the 455 Buick only has a 10.600 deck height. Take Care
