There is a 1949 Buick Special Sedanette for sale in my area that I am 'considering'......Yes, my wife knows.....she actually pointed it out! It has been stored indoors for the last 10 years, but is in need of restoration. The body looks pretty good, Straight 8, but it needs glass, a full interior and brakes. ( and probably a lot more ). I don't have any pictures, but I might go back tomorrow and take some... They are asking $3950. Is that within the right price range? What say the Buick experts?
maybe too much... i have a 1950 special sedanette. different body, not unique like the 49. but still, i overpaid at $2300 for a car in similar shape to yours. unless the chrome on the car is really good, that asking price seems high to me. allan
Thanks for the feedback. I don't know much about the early Buicks but I did some research last night. It has a Dynoflow.... does that mean it's a Super and not a Special? ( I was looking at the condition more then the lettering on the chrome )
If.... it has portholes on the front fender, it's a Super (three per side) or Roadmaster (four). 1949 Specials didn't have front fender portholes. Not sure, but I don't think the '49 Special (which really was a holdover '48) offered Dynaflow, which was an option on Super and standard on Roadmaster. Show us a picture!
It has the 3 portholes and it also has the Dynoflow so it must be a Super. I'm trying to get in touch with the owner to find out more about the condition of the mechanicals. Does the fact that is a Super or that it has a Dynaflow make it more valuable? I think I am going to make an offer, but I want to know what is a fair price.
