After 24 years in the business I am thinking about doing my carpentry and rehab work all over the country . I really enjoy working on older homes but I probally have done every phase of carpentry in my career . I have just returned home from Minnesota last week and soon I will be working in Iowa . Both of these jobs are for V8 members ! Word of mouth and also people seeing my work has kept me working all these years . Some of you have been at both our old house and also the one we bought this spring for the party and were able to see a little bit of the work I do for customers and also ourselves . Hey Bruce! If your in the Long Island area come spring, you can do my 2nd floor addition and my 2 car attached garage. Its so difficult to find someone honest and reliable around here. Jason
That's cool Bruce. What kind of problems do you run into regarding any licensing/bonding/etc... when you do carpentry business in 48 different states? My parents are getting F'd in central AZ. They bought a piece of land after selling their last house. They can't build a decent (not spec piece of garbage) 2000 sf house for under $200k! In fact, to duplicate the one they sold, but in ranch style as opposed to SW/stucco style, it's more like $225k. The amazing thing is they own the plans from the last house! Yet if they lived in Phoenix, it would be much cheaper. Also, there are so many builders that aren't honest in that area, and from watching the duplex go up behind the one their renting right now - they're slow as hell too! Two guys in two days couldn't even put up the shingles on the back side of the roof. They got about 3/4 of it done and it's straight runs all the way with no big obtrusions like skylights!
Bruce is being unusually quiet. Weighing his options. With several offers already on the thread already.
If you come out to Long Island for Jason, I could keep you busy for a while with my 90+ year old house.
