Most of the HD clutches sound like a small plane trying to take off. I used the Hayden 2711. It is 2.98" tall with a much shorter shaft than the 3.34" on the 2747. The HD 2947 is 2.71" tall.

Just a thought - Maybe new bushings on the core support?

I spaced the fan 0.57 inches towards the motor. Gained the space needed. So the Hayden 2947 clutch fan will be next. Bill, the gap around the fan is great, just the tips are touching the concave portion of the shroud because fan was too far forward into the shroud. See before and after spacing pics. 6452C845-C654-4601-AFCC-81CDD074173E.jpeg

You can clip the blades as long as you do the same on each blade

    Hugger,
Thats a good idea. If i end up needing more clearance, ill do that

Might be overkill, but if the blades are detachable, I'd weigh each one individually to ensure the same amount of material was removed from each blade.

Yes - you’re correct. 20 inch, 5 blade non equal spacing. the qjet is now plumbed. Exhaust being connected on Sunday…..getting close to dreaded can break in. Im going to run heater hose to the back corner, it interferes with the Holley feed. IMG_1031.jpeg IMG_1025.jpeg IMG_1031.jpeg IMG_1025.jpeg

Don't sweat the cam Break in just be prepared....large or two smaller fans....water hose to spray the radiator if needed....make sure fuel bowl is full..and is squirting fuel...fill the coolant system the night b4....then top off b4 starting...obviously double check the distributor is in correctly set in advanced at least 20°....bend a piece of coat hanger to clip the throttle back....and a temp laser gun

I'm guilty of clipping the throttle and sitting on the stool with a beer while it does its thing ha

Give a good rap of the throttle every few min...I'll zing it up to 4-5k

Did the cam break in today. Engine fired immediately and never ran above 195 degrees. So next is change oil and filter, install hood, drive it to seat rings. Great morning!

That's great news. Fortunately, the weather is going to improve over the next couple of days.

When you do that, don’t be afraid to get on it on the highway, like up to 80 or 90 full throttle, back off, then repeat a few more times.
