Very interesting, although a crap shoot as to what you get-Heads,1231786-1970 castings,1237661-1971 castings,1240149-1970 dealer replacement castings. Block,1231738-1970 casting,1238861-1971 casting. Warranty-Full replacement if failure in first 2 years,50% after that. and even the warranty has extra extension clauses,I mean what real shop only charges $35.00 an Hour?Plus it is limited to $450.00 total? Like I said it's a crap shoot. In my eyes there are too many things that can and probably Will go wrong.
This is pretty much a standard type replacemnet engine from what is reffered to as a production engine shop, meaning a shop that kicks out high volumes of engines. There is a local shop here that sells these same kinds of engines. One of the things they do here is use new valves with oversized valve stems, what this allows them to do is to not replace worn guides, but rather just hone them bigger and put in a larger diameter valve stem. This is pretty standard fair for this type of production shop. This would be an ok engine for someone just wanting a pure stocker replacement engine , probably not a good choice for someone interested in a performance engine. The warranty is also pretty much standard fair there too. The different warranty levels are for the different labor rates that a shop would charge, some shops, depending on where they are located may only charge $35 to $45 per hour for work, most would be higher. Even here where I live, $35 per hour for a shop rate is getting to be a thing of the past, but there are still some shops that only charge that , or slightly higher. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
I figure it would help some kid that might need a new engine to replace his worn out one. I see a few out there that are still in school and ones that don't have alot to spend on a high performance engine, so if it helps them keep their Buick going, the better You can never have enough Buick Nuts! LOL.
