In the past year, one of the magazines (Muscle Car Review?) mentioned an alternative use for vacuum-actuated A/C switches. The letter writer was talking about options for controlling his automatic transmission or something, and this device was said to work. You could either re-purpose a used one from a junker, or they listed the part number you could use to order a new one.
