IMG_8822.JPG New exhaust on. Went from 2" shop bent to TA performance 2.5" mandrel bent. Dynomax super turbo mufflers. Shaved off another 0.3 seconds by only changing the exhaust. All with the tiny cam still in.

Nice! Can't wait to see what headers do for you.

Still with that cam, headers with the new exhaust would probably of been over a whole second!

Thanks Derek! Ya, I'm tempted with headers. Right now I want to stay with all iron parts. Possibly put in that 230/240/114 cam this fall but more likely a spring project.

Just looking at the pics, it looks like the engine has never been apart.
The rockers and springs look cruddy:eek:

No new news. Ran the car this spring. Corrected ET around 14-14.05. Painting the house and a ton of other work, so the car is on hold. Saw that my kickdown wire was off.... fixed that. Installed a Governor with lighter springs to get the shift points up, but have not brought it to the track after that fix. About a dozen times of installing and removing the Governor to get that right. new speedometer cable and driven gear to get the reading correct on that.

Wouldn't lighter springs LOWER the shift points?

Lighter weights should raise the shift points.

The springs help push out the weights. So a lighter spring can’t push them out as easily. Similar affect as shaving off weight. With lighter weights, the centrifugal force is lessened. Takes more rpm to get them moved out. Shift point is raised.

If I recall, there’s also fluid pressure and a center shaft piston trying to keep the weights in.

I haven't dicked with governor springs. Bought the kit, never installed it. So perhaps I have things backwards.

I note that your "page 2" shows "(lighter)" springs for both raising and lowering the shift points.

Good catch. That’s an error. The up arrow is correct, but the word should say heavier not lighter. Personally I would try springs first. You don’t need to disassemble anything and if you get lucky it’s an easy fix.
