Oh yeah, still running on all 8 cylinders.... not quite the same compression as the old days but more than willing to mix it up on occasion.

A few backfires every now and then...... did I just say that?! :puzzled:

Be looking forward to hanging out with you again. :TU:

    Hi Doug,

Boating and fishing have been my greatest passions since living and growing up on the shore of beautiful Howe Sound. It's been quite awhile since I've seen a classic boat such as yours. Most Ski Nautiques I see here in the Sound are newer models. Love to hear that V8 gurgle, while at idle, out on the water.
Squamish has crazy mountain bikers, skiers, and snowboarders."Those Crazy Canucks" fits this town well. But, we still enjoy some quiet time sipping some specialty coffees after some hard play. I relax by listening to some LPs, reel-to-reel, cassettes...and, yes, even 8-tracks on my vintage stereo equipment.

    Keep her in tune,

    Nando.

They are only $45,000 and 13.32 is better than any GS or GN when new.

Hey-didnt a stock GNX on good tires with a little 'tunning'pull high 12's? I could be wrong but I would love to see the race.

No, you are not wrong. And the GNX was "only" about 30K back in the day. Hell, even a stock GN with a couple more grand thrown at it is in the 12's. Or you could spend 45K on a Challenger to go slower. :pp

Really though, I love the Challengers. They must ride sweet.

Whipped one with the GN and my GN is not that fast. I have raced at least 5 SRT8's and have never lost. Most of those were with the X. Best one I have seen so far was a Magnum that turned a 13.2 I have to admit the Jeep SRT8 had 3 more people in it than the GN did. The jeep took me for half way across the intersection, the turbo hit and it was all over. I will have to admit that I much rather take the Jeep on a trip to go skiing and it is a very cool AWD.

Would NOT want to race your GN:grin:

No BS, I've seen 2 100% stock SRT8 Jeeps run 12.9s all day long. They kick the crap out of all the other SRT8s. One of the guys has since done full exhuast and programmer and intake mods and I think runs 12.6s and the other one has nitrous and I don't know what else and he also runs 12.6s.

No one said an SRT8 was a cheap way to go fast. They'll beat 90% of the other crap boxes on the road though.

And while we're at it, Buick isn't a cheap way to go fast either. Those GNs are far from cheap.

I'd like to see what a stock 09 single cab short bed hemi ram will run. My 07 Ram ran 14.81 completely stock and it cost me well under 20K. A Buick can go faster for cheaper but it doesn't have a lifetime powertrain warranty...

I have never had a real hemi willing to run ANY of my Buicks. The stage 1 I understand, but my '66 4-speed???? :Dou:
Richard Lasseter really put the fear into those guys, I guess....they're afraid to run ANYTHING with a Buick emblem.
Two friends of mine (unbeknownst to me) sent an open challenge to Car Review back in the '90's, that my Stage 1 could beat any 440-6 pack or Hemi convertible in stock trim. They didn't even print the letter, so we all dropped our subscriptions. Wussies didn't want to offend their Mopar readers, haha! Dan

    otter It'll be done someday.

Getting back to the "back in the day" personal experiences,,,
I got my license back in 1981 and some of my friends who were a few years older than me remembered a hemi cuda that used to cruise hwy 100 in Milwaukee, he would pop wheelies down the road as a challenge to anyone who wanted to race, Must have blown his engine by the time I started hanging out for the nightly racing action all summer long as I never saw it. Back then I drove my mom's 69 Electra, I had swapped a cam in and converted to dual exhaust, other than that it was mostly stock, raced a 440 Road runner that had a stick one night and pulled a fender on him before we ran out of room. I was pretty impressed and so was he. I had 430, he had 440, I had 3speed auto, he had 4 speed stick, I had 2.75:1 rear, he had 4.10:1 rear. not much on the road was stock back then but I do know that if you ran low 12's you were the King of the road, there was no such thing as a street driven 10second car back then, don't care what anyone tells you, and by the way a car in the low 12's can pull the front wheels off the ground if some kid tells you he has a 10 second ride, have him show you how far he can go before the front wheels come back down to the road. I got a ride in an Integra that was supposedly a 10second car and it felt no quicker than my mom's old Electra, I'm thinking it was more likely a 13 second car.

cray1801 Too much is just right.

I've heard several people say they had "500 HP" :idea2: ... but at the track they could only muster a 12 second pass.

It takes a calculated effort or lots of money (on an expensive new ride) to run a sub 12 second 1/4 mile on street tires. :Smarty:

Just watch out for that sneaky turbo... in a ragged out 80's Thunderbird (It didn't happen to me...:Brow: )
