I would like to say that is one good looking and very clean 455. It is fresh as well.

I have been watching for the same thing - however - it is just a long block. It has a way to go and many $ to get it to a carb to pan configuration. Will need pan/flywheel/starter, water pump/full ignition/intake/carb/headers-manifolds of which none of your 350 parts will work. If you compliment a new long block with other new hardware, instead of used questionable pieces, you will have a fair amount in it. If you could find a 455 in need to rebuild and harvest all the other parts you need it may be worth it if used parts cut it with you. My problem is I have a perfectly good 455 - but I want more power - and I would not be surprised if you may want the same once you get it running - then say - how would this run with a hotter cam and better breathing heads? Just my thoughts - its your cash....

It would be nice to know who did it and how. Buicks are different and if it was built to chevy spec's....! You should plan to have someone go through it and check everything. And plan on running it as is, don't get sucked into a new cam, lifters, etc. Cash flows quickly when you want "just a little more"!

A good used core is $200 - 300 and a good used running 455 is $500 - 600. A cheap stock (not staged) rebuild is $1200 - 2000 by someone else (as some have reported on this board). So minimum to reproduce this engine is $1400, assuming it is OK. I think the remanufacturedengines.com sells them for about $1600 - 1800 plus core plus shipping with warranty.

And its not finished, it needs more to get ready to run.

You need to consider cost to ship as well, unless you can pick it up.

Having said that, if its under $800 its a deal.. a risky deal but a deal. Over $1000 and it may be too much without knowing more.

Maybe you can get the phone number for the guy he bougt it from and find out who did it and talk to them.

There are sources for these engines, so don't think this is the last one you'll see for sale.

I think your money would be better spent finding a complete motor with a few miles on it....at least you know that it runs...

And you don't have to piece it together like stated in the above post..

For what you are trying to do with a limited budget you would probably be better off letting it pass... If I were in your position I'd be looking for a complete boned out Riviera or Electra to snatch the whole motor from so I get all the brackets and little pieces all at one time. Otherwise you will probably spend a small fortune trying to come up with all the detail parts to make this thing run.
