    what year/type ya want?

are ya lookin for one for a '70 , they only had a dipstick with a washer(which can spray oil out at high rpm's) . that just sat in the hole in the block , after '71 it went to a tube and stick . i got a couple of each .

stick and washer is all i have in the 72

stick and washer is all i have in the 72. when i put the stick in the 70 to chheck oil it seems real sloppy, like it could bounce around or out, is there still a insert tube that goes in the block? :Do No:
    Thanks

    loose stick

hello , the stick and washer were very loose. you may have a broken tube in the 72 block since they should have the tube style, , the earlyones are a pain to insert in the dark, leaked and wasnt a good idea . the thing to do is switch to the later tube and stick .the tubes will just slip into the early blocks , all big block buicks had the same size hole . yet some very early ehaust manifolds may not have a bolt hole for the dipstick bracket.

    oops

i mean the '70 block could have a broken tube . look close to see if there is . use a pick to clean and measure the hole with say a dowl or long bolt it may be fun to get out without pullin the motor , if youve ever had to dig a broken tube out.

    man its early

sorry, if the tube is tighter in th '72 the '72 may have a broken tube down in the block since 72's had tube and stick . duh.

When I took apart a 70 455 I recently bought there was a dip stick in the pan bent in a circle. Because of the play they have going in it was picked up by the crank. I would go with the tube.

    Wow

But the tube ONLY goes so far into the block, and certainly the tube does not exit into the pan/crank area. :Brow:

AMP makes a repro stick & tube $50-$60. :TU: "A" body 455's had tubes, big cars did NOT. Yes sticks & tubes changed depending on the year, power options, etc, and will interchange, though not correct. :bglasses:

Do a search in the "Vendor section"

They advertised it there before. :TU:

Forget the search, due to the hackers....

Been there done that, had two sucked into the motor, one wrapped around the crank and now one in my present motor is just bouncing around some where in there (bottom 6 or so inches broke and dropped down).
