:Do No: Thinking of putting a 70 455 in my 64 Lesabre, BB is ( supposed to be rebuilt ) one thing for sure it got new motor paint on it, but anyway was thinking of having it checked out, beefed up and dropping it in the 64. I also got the tranny that was attached to it all for $250, the car is really nice and that SB 300 runs strong w/out no problems its just that the BBB sounds so so :3gears: , well you know :Brow:

I think I just got too much time on my hands to think about my Buicks

You may want to check out the thread in 'Boatload of Fun' regarding putting a 455 in a '65 Riv. There is alot of similar issues. I thought about that with one of my early cars too. Sticking with orig.

    Consider

    Nice looking car!

I have no experience with the swap you are interested in. BUT, I would think long and hard before just dropping in a $250 motor.

Unless the seller is a family member or Clergy I would open it up while it is easy to get at.

I just bought a 455/TH400 which according to the seller, "could be dropped right in, with no problems."

I removed the intake manifold and found a bent push rod from a stuck valve in one of the heads. One of the rocker retainers was gone as well and the rocker shaft had a groove worn in it from the retainer. Bottom end looks great.

Having a look now for the cost of a gasket set will give you peace of mind.

So what changes do you for see i'll have to make, to make the swap from my 300 to 455 i 've never done it before and, I would think that it should fit nicely in the 64 Lesabre with a lot of room may have to change the motor mounts, drive shaft and the rear end to handle the 455 a feww outher things....ect. I would only drive it on week ends and to show stuff like that, just want to know what im facing, the motor supposed to have been rebuilt with all new parts the guy i got it from sold it to me for $250 along with the tranny,(in the middle of a divorce) and I couldnt pass it up so now what do i do with it? I figure i have it checked out and see whats what and to see if it would work The boxes on top of the motor are parts to the motor, gaskets for the intake ect........he also gave me the receipts for the parts, im pretty sure it has been rebuilt my concern is was it done correctly, and if so what will i be facing putting it im my 64 Lesabre, chages upgrades, cost ...ect
