    My Dad just recently purchased a 455 Buick engine. It was complete less carburetor and was in pieces. On the cylinder heads and block there are what I believe to be identification numbers for what year the items were made in. So if anyone knows what year the block or cylinder heads are from please reply. The codes are listed below.

    Block=1241735
    Cylinder Heads=1246322

    Thanks

  2. The cylinder heads # is a 76 455. Not a great year for heads.

    You probably just saved me a lot of time and problems when my car runs bad.

    Thanks

    All the more reason to go Aluminum! I notice you're getting into a 455 Regal build....wanting to get into the 10's.

    Good luck!!

    Dave's definitely right about the heads. If you don't want to spend the money on Aluminum, then try to find a set of 70 or 71 heads....or 67 430 tall port heads.
