455 heads...

    just purchased a 76 455.i beleive a 76 has 7.9:1 cr.if i put a set of 71 455 heads with lets say a basic felpro head gasket what kind of cr might i acheive?and what year head gaskets do i use?also anyone know the specs on a stock 76 cam verses a lets say 71 cam from a run of the mill 455[like they put in a land yacht].also whats up with this oil pump booster plate thing please explain the benifits and where to get one......thanks

    You will use head gaskets for the year of the block. The smaller combustion chambers will help a little on CR (I am not an expert determining the number). You might feel a little in the seat of your pants.

    76 heads have 78 cc, chambers 71 heads have 71 cc, so you will increase your commpression by about .7, the booster plate give the gears a new surfase to ride on, and inproves oil flow, you can get one from TA Performance.
