I've got a set of 455 BBB headers for sale. I bought them used, sandblasted them to bare metal, then primed them with VHT primer and painted them with VHT header paint. They havent been installed since I found a ceramic set at a good price, and the paint hasnt been baked yet. They are 2" primary and 3-1/2" collector, and overall in pretty decent shape. They have 2 noticable dings (both pictured), one header on the second primary (looks like the previous owner clearanced them for something) and the other header has a flat spot on the bottom, but doesnt look too awful (IMHO). They have a few scratches and knicks from being moved around my basement, otherwise are pretty decent. They came out of a 71 GS455, and Im not sure of the brand, but think they may be Poston. Im asking $250 (<---new price) plus actual shipping. If interested, please post here first per board rules. It may be a few days before I can get them shipped (Im gonna be uber busy this week), so please bear with me! Located in Dayton, Ohio. Thanks!:beer
Do they have plates welded inside the collector? One vertical, one horizontal? Interested if 462Chevelle passes. Thank you.
Bob, I just went and checked and there are no plates inside the collector. Mike, Not sure about fitment for your '66, but im sure a member more familiar with that year than I can answer your question.
Almost any BBB stg1 header will need massaging. TA sells conversion mounts that raise the engine and move it back if needed. I've seen a few Poston 1 7/8s pri headers work with no mods (real tight fit) and others hit the steering shaft. Every car is a little different. I used Hooker 1 7/8's pri with factory mounts and the dr side hit everywhere. Pass side wasn't bad. Using the TA kit would have helped. These are 2" so I would figure on some work to get them to fit. I know there's no miracle fit header for the early car transplant. I am using the TA mounts. I own a couple big hammers. Just wanted to double check that there wasn't something insurmountable keeping these headers from going in an early car. :TU:
Still available, new price is $250 plus actual shipping (im getting sick of walking around them!):TU:
TTT.... I would also consider trying to work out a trade for a good aftermarket SFI harmonic balancer for a 455 (external balance)!:beer
Gabe, im not real familiar with the full size cars so we'll have to hit up some of the resident experts as to whether or not these will work for you.
I was told by a friend of mine on this board who owns a '67 GS 455 that they "probably" should fit, but I would rather find out if they fit "for sure".
