I'm still thinking of using the old cast exhaust manifolds for my 65 skylark with a 455 in it. I bought a flowmaster exhaust set and I'm now wondering how to attach the ball connector of the exhaust manifold to the new pipe set. Is there some kind of connection piece I can buy or is there just my imagination and some welding stopping me from putting in the new pipes.

There should be a collar sliding freely on the head pipe, that you run two bolts through to the manifold. It's late so please forgive me if this is a "Duh". A picture would help if you have one?:TU:

I installed a Flowmaster system in my 64 w/a 455 and had to have an exhaust shop custom bend the header pipes. I had the flanges and had them connect to the cast iron manifolds. $60 bucks. I'm happy and it sounds great.

There was a colar on the set I pulled off which was rusted pretty bad but the new set is just bent pipes with no colars or flanges or really anything except for connectors to the other pipes in the kit. I can't send a picture either. Sorry the actual project is still in Massachesetts and I moved to Hawaii with my wife. I still try to gather information so that when I get home I can hopefully get the thing together and ship it here. I figured the flowmaster kit would be made for headers so some modification would be required, I just didn't know if there was some other kit to buy or an easy way to do it. After fabricating new rear quarterpanels and welding them in with a new trunk, and little other body pieces I was trying to get out of doing anymore welding. But an exhaust shop job for $60 doesn't sound too bad right about now. Thanks for the replies guys.

    Stoutboy,
Try TA performance, I believe they have downpipe adapters for attaching a header system to exhaust manifolds. You may be better of just calling them. 480-922-6807
