I just got home from driving the car about 250 miles(1970 GSX Stage I). Easy highway miles. As I was driving, I noticed a slight tick which seemed to get louder as I drove. The power feels the same but I'm concerned because my oil pressure is down. It usually reads just above half way on the factory gauge. Now it's reading about 1/4.

I have 10-30 in it. It's about 90 degrees here so I'm wondering if the oil is too thin. I have TA roller rockers in it. I can't pinpoint the tic. Could it be the roller rockers need to be readjusted?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

if it goes away when the engine cools down and the oil presure goes up then i would say its your rockers not getting enough oil??? but i dont know with rollers, thats what standard rocker will do, it you are talking about the factory guage i would WATCH OUT 1/4 ON THE GUAGE IS LESS THEN 15 PSI. my guage at half is around 25 psi. 15 psi is not even enough for 2000 rpms. you might want to add a booster plate to your oil pump. i threw a rod on a 455 that i was driving around with low oil presure in hot weather, just my 2 cents. Well, mine was running 3/4 on the factory gauge at cruise speed until I recently changed to a K&N oil filter and used 20/50 synt. oil. Now it runs about 2/3 on the gauge. My VDO shows 25 lbs when the factory gauge is halfway. Don't know if my problem is in the filter or if the synt. oil is just slick and not running the press. up like the conven. oils did. You need to add a good gauge to monitor it too. Booster plates work well, but don't use the longer gears some manu. offer.
