455 crate engine on Ebay 12K.

Is this engine worth 12K?..

torque seems low for that engine. mine makes 539 with a lot less motor???

 

The heads in their picture look like stage 2 heads. I don't think Eddy made stage 2s.

Yea, there is a lot wrong with that picture and what they say you get...wrong intake, wrong carb among other things.
Just a generic picture??

 

I'm sure it is, seen it before somewhere or another, plus the auction is not for an engine already built, but rather to begin a build.

That pic is from the Car Craft Big Block shootout they did back in 2001..the Buick build was in the October 2001 issue and is the pic in the mag. They built a 455 Buick, Olds and Pontiac along with a 454 Chevy and 460 Ford as equally as possible and then dynoed them. The 455 Buick won the shootout.

$12,500? I think I would pass. They don't even know the motor in the pic has aluminum Stage 2 heads on it made only by TA. If I was going to pay that kind of coin for a mail order 455 I would go thru TA.

 

It does have a chrome dipstick.
