I have a 455 and want to replace the bolts that hold the timing chain gear to the camshaft. Are there special bolts out there that I have to use or can I just use a "grade five" bolt that I can get from the hardware store?
    Any thoughts? :Do No:

Just one thought: Spend the money for the best bolts you can put in it. The difference in price can't be THAT much. Cheap insurance.

I think I've got grade 8 "Hardware Store" bolts in mine. Make sure you match the length to the old bolts - too long is bad news. Use a good grade of Locktite.

I've done the same as John and never had a problem.

Grade 8 is never a bad idea.....But the bolt length and the use of "Locktite" are very important. :Smarty:
