I'm pretty new to this site, but so far it's been absolutely great! I have a 71 Riviera with a 72 455. It's mainly stock, but so far I've added an Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock 750 cfm carb (I know I know, but it's worked perfectly so far), and a K&N filter. Here's what I plan to add this summer

Mallory Unilite elec distributor with MSD 6A ignition
    TA 212 Cam (.459 int .470 ext 112 degrees)
New lifters, springs, valves, push rods, etc.
    TA 1621B forged/notched pistons (10.1:1)
Oil plate booster, shim, 5/8" pick-up and all the 455 oil mods.
    Double timing chain
TA 2013CSH shorty headers (already have 2.5 inch dual exhaust)
    Possibly new 3.43 gears

This will all include a new rebuild with all the gaskets. I plan to take the heads and block to a machine shop for honing, porting, etc. Any advice on all these mods? Will this combo be alright for a good street car? I don't need anything over 400hp. Just something that will be a blast to drive. Anyone know of any good machine shops in Northeast Missouri, Southeast Iowa or West Central Illinois? Thanks!

Not to happy about the cam and carburator combo, maybe upgrade with at least a 850 unit?

How much do you expect to pay for the Mallory Unilite elec distributor with MSD 6A ignition? I'm thinking about buying the same set, but couldn't figure out the prices here in the Netherlands.

Post a few photos of that 71 Riv please?

Well, I've seen the MSD 6A at Summit Racing for around $150 USD. That's without the blaster coil and everything, though. I've heard some people say that the 750cfm works just fine and the other half say to step up to 800 to 850cfm. I'll just have to see how it works once I get everything done. Thanks for the help, though! I appreciate it.

I think that came is a little small. i would go with .485-498 lift
and duration 220-230 at .50 on 114-116 centers. it will still drive
    great.
    Hope this helps, Wayne

if your not going over 5500rpm, a 750 is fine, that 212 cam wont make power past that , but with your build up you could run a lot more cam and it will still be a nice driver, a cam with 228 intake duration still idles good but you need a converter that is a little loose, or go to a switch pitch, but i think some people run like a c113 cam on the stock converter? but then you will need a 800cfm. bigger carbs wont make more power unless your moter needs it. just my 2 cents
